Terms of Service

Last updated: August 18, 2026

These terms govern your use of Grav Private Social ("Grav"), operated by its individual owner ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to them. Like our Privacy Policy, they're written in plain English on purpose.

The short version: Grav is private by design, and privacy is not a shield for abuse. The list of things you can't do here is short, explicit, and enforced.

1. Who can use Grav

You must be 18 or older to use Grav. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.

You're responsible for your account and what happens through it. Keep your credentials to yourself.

2. Your content

You own what you post. You grant Grav only the limited rights needed to host, store, process, transmit, technically reproduce for delivery, display to the audience you chose, moderate when reported, preserve when legally required, and secure and support the service. We don't sell it, license it to anyone else, use it for ads or advertising profiles, or train AI models on it.

Grav Messages are private and server-backed. Grav stores and processes message content as necessary to deliver it, synchronize it across your devices, restore it when you sign in again, operate, secure, and support the service, respond to reports, and meet legal requirements.

You're responsible for having the rights to what you post. Don't post other people's work, or other people's private content, without permission.

3. Prohibited content and conduct

The following are banned everywhere on Grav, in channels, in Feeds of any size, in direct and group messages, in profiles, usernames, avatars, and bios. "Private" spaces are not exempt.

Zero tolerance:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, photographic, generated, drawn, or written
  • Any sexualization of minors, real or fictional
  • Grooming, solicitation of minors, or attempts to arrange contact with minors

We say this proudly and without apology: child exploitation is reported to the authorities, immediately, with everything we have. When such material is detected or confirmed, we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement and provide any and all data and information we collect, account details, content, timestamps, and interaction records. This applies not only to whoever posted the material but to anyone who engaged with it, liking, reacting to, commenting on, or sharing child exploitation content earns the same enforcement and appears in the same report. Accounts involved are frozen the moment the material is detected: content is preserved as evidence and the account cannot be deleted while the review or any law-enforcement obligation is active, you cannot destroy evidence by deleting your account. If you were swept in by mistake (an automated flag that a human review overturns), your account is restored and you'll be notified.

Banned content:

  • Pornography and sexually explicit content, Grav is not an adult-content platform, including in private Feeds
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery, and threats to share it
  • Content depicting or celebrating gratuitous violence, gore, or animal abuse
  • Promotion or instruction of self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
  • Sale or coordination of illegal goods, drugs, weapons, stolen data, counterfeits

Banned conduct:

  • Harassment, stalking, threats, or intimidation of any person
  • Hate directed at people for who they are, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin
  • Doxxing, publishing someone's private information without consent
  • Impersonation of a person or organization
  • Spam, mass-messaging, pyramid/fraud schemes, and platform manipulation
  • Attempting to bypass blocks, suspensions, bans, or our moderation systems
  • Scraping, probing, or attacking the service

4. How enforcement works

Every post, message, comment, user, Feed, and channel can be reported from inside the app, with up to three screenshots attached as evidence.

  • Public surfaces (channels, discoverable Feeds, and public profile fields) are subject to the same Terms and may be reviewed by staff when reported or otherwise brought to our attention.
  • Private content is reviewed only when a participant reports it. Moderators see the reported content, not your unrelated content.
  • Reported Messages can be reviewed when a participant reports them. A participant can also attach screenshots to a report.
  • Actions we may take: remove content, warn, suspend, place an account under review-hold, permanently ban, delete Feeds or channels used for prohibited activity, and, for CSAM and credible threats, report to NCMEC and law enforcement with all data and information we collect, preserving evidence for the legally required period.
  • Reports are queued for trained human review. Staff may preserve evidence and place content or accounts under review-hold when needed for safety, legal compliance, or investigation.
  • Review-holds freeze the account: you'll see a notice when you open the app, and you cannot delete the account or its data while the hold is active. Holds are either released (with notice) or escalated after human review.
  • Appeals: if you believe we got it wrong, appeal via Settings → Support. A human will look.

Deleting your account does not stop a legally required report that's already in motion, and deletion is unavailable entirely while your account is under review.

5. Subscriptions

Grav+ is billed through Apple. Pricing and terms are shown at purchase; cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple through your App Store account, not by us. Plus features may evolve over time.

6. Brand channels

Some channels on Grav are operated by verified businesses ("brand channels"). Brand channels are subscribe-only and appear in labeled discovery surfaces. Brand access to member data is limited by production access controls and the Brand Covenant. Brand channels are subject to the same content rules as every other account. We may suspend or remove brand channels that violate these terms. The plain-language version of these commitments lives at /brands (the Brand Covenant).

7. Termination

Deleting a message you sent removes its content for everyone in that conversation. Removing a conversation from your own view clears it for you only. Deleting your account removes the account and the content you authored; content other people created remains theirs.

You can leave at any time from Settings. Deletion is intended to be prompt and permanent for ordinary account data, subject to active safety reviews, legal obligations, fraud/security logs, backups, payment records, and other required retention described in the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. For zero-tolerance violations, termination is immediate and permanent with no appeal.

8. Disclaimers and limits

Grav is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it available, secure, and correct, but we can't promise perfection.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Changes

If we materially change these terms, we'll give you at least 14 days' notice via in-app banner and email. Continuing to use Grav after that means you accept the new terms.

10. Contact

Governing law and dispute-resolution venue are pending final review by counsel and will be finalized before public launch.
